| 1st July 2008 | |
| As June drizzles gently into July, the wheels of Irish business are slowing to a halt. Each day’s crop of emails follows a pattern: ‘Niall [or Edward, Howard, Robert or whoever - incidentally all of them males] will be out of the office until the cows come home. If you have any urgent queries, please contact Deirdre [or Karen, Susan, or whoever - all of them females]‘. However, at AMDG Express we are still in the office to welcome your stories, so keep them coming. Please note, though, that the newsletter will not appear during the month of August.

Irish leave for World Youth DaySlí Eile’s Noelle Fitzpatrick is leading a 15-strong group of young Irish pilgrims to Sydney, Australia, for World Youth Day 2008 (WYD08), which takes place from Tuesday 15 to Sunday 20 July. Attracting even more visitors to Australia than the 2000 Olympics, WYD08 will see over 125,000 young people respond to Pope Benedict’s invitation to celebrate their faith around the theme of receiving power from the Holy Spirit and becoming witnesses. In preparation for the WYD08 events, the Slí Eile group will participate in MAGiS 08, an Ignatian programme which challenges young people to grow spiritually through risk-taking, reflection and action. |
