Annual Dinner 2006
Our timing was perfect! The coalition parties were at odds, the government could fall at any moment.
Whether or not Rob Ryan, Union President 2006 had been tipped-off by his brother Eamon, we will never know. But someone had certainly tipped-off the press. Sky News and RTE visited Gonzaga on the evening of 4th October 2006 to capture the unique atmosphere of a Gonzaga Union Dinner attended by both An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern and An Tanaiste, past pupil,
Michael McDowell, during a week of turbulent political debate. It proved to be a very memorable evening. Bertie spoke at length about Gonzaga’s great history and achievements and I suspect we all learnt something new about our school that night.
