6th Year Careers Evening
Past pupils quizzed by 6th year students ..........
Last Wednesday (December 2nd), the Gonzaga Union participated in a Careers Evening with the current 6th Year boys. Firstly, 8 speakers gave presentations in the new Auditorium on their career paths to date. They were joined afterwards by a further 3, and all 11 volunteers (including 3 guests) made themselves available in the dining hall where they were quizzed by the 6th Year boys. The participating past pupils were Esmonde Keane, Charlie O’Brien, Esmonde O’Briain, Ivar McGrath, Jack Carney, Maghnus O’Donnell (all from the Class of 1982), Michael Smith (1983) and Kevin McLaughlin (2003).
Many thanks to these past pupils for their contribution and to the 6th Year boys for their attention and enthusiasm. Some of the speakers were quizzed more than others, and it would appear that the Class of 2010 will provide a great number of stockbrokers, journalists and a very high number of professional rugby players!
The evening was a great success and we have received positive feedback from the school that it was a most worthwhile exercise. Special thanks to Guidance Counsellor, Sharon Byron-Smith for ensuring that our offer of assistance became a reality. We hope to make this an annual event.
