Noughties Soccer League 2007

Rob O’Connor’s “Romeos” from the Class of 2003 eventually gained the upper hand.”

The afternoon of 28th March saw the graduates (and nearly graduates) of the Noughties spill onto the all-weather pitches at UCD to compete for the honour and glory of winning the Union’s now wellestablished, 5-a-side Noughties Soccer League. Over 60 players togged out with representatives from each year that have graduated since 2001 as well as teams of current 5th and 6th year pupils.

Some fast-paced action was enjoyed through the pool stages and into the semi-finals. As the players tired, youth began to win through. The Classes of 2003 and 2005 battled it out in the final with Rob O’Connor’s “Romeos” from the
Class of 2003 eventually gaining the upper hand.

Then it was off to Madigans for the post mortems over drinks and nibbles. Special thanks are due to Paddy
Flood for organizing and running the event on the day.
Many of our “more mature” past pupils have expressed an interest in playing in this tournament in the future. If you would like to enter a team, please register your interest with Elaine at union@gonzaga.ie.
